Description:

Marat M. Terterov is a British national, originally from Ukraine, who currently serves as a senior official at the Energy Charter Secretariat, a Brussels based international organisation founded by the European Union. Terterov holds a PhD (D.Phil.) in the political-economy of the Middle East from Oxford University and has published over 40 country studies and articles on a diversity of economic, political and business topics relating to the Middle East and Russia & the former-Soviet Union. Initially specialising in economic reform and privatisation in Egypt, he went on to work as an adviser to several Egyptian state bodies in parallel to his PhD research. Thereafter, he managed investment promotion publication projects for state bodies in the Gulf States, before becoming a close follower of the energy sector in Eurasia. Having over 10 years of strong exposure to governments and state bodies in these regions, Terterov has cultivated a rare specialisation of the comparative politics of Gulf-Russia relations. He is currently author-editing a book on this very topic with the Gulf Research Centre (a Dubai, UAE based think tank), which is due for publication in late 2008.
