Experience

Målfrid Braut-Hegghammer is a Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies and a final-year Ph.D. student at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research focuses on theories of nuclear proliferation and the cases of Libya and Iraq. She received her B.Sc. degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the University of Aberystwyth and a Masters degree at the London School of Economics. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in Libya, the Gulf, and elsewhere interviewing key Iraqi and Libyan scientists and regime figures and United Nations weapons inspectors. She has appeared in Norwegian broadcast and written media as an expert commentator and has given talks for members of the British parliament and at the Naval postgraduate School in Monterey. Her work has appeared in the Middle East Journal, Nonproliferation Review, RUSI Journal, and Babylon.
