Richard A. Falkenrath
Former Assistant Professor of Public Policy; Former Principal Investigator, Executive Session on Domestic Preparedness
Experience
Richard A. Falkenrath was Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the Kennedy School and a Center faculty affiliate. He was Executive Director of the Belfer Center from 1996-1998. He is principal investigator of the Executive Session on Domestic Preparedness (a DOJ-funded joint project of the International Security Program and the Taubman Center for State and Local Government) and of the Jeddah Forum project funded out of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is the author of Shaping Europe's Military Order: The Origins and Consequences of the CFE Treaty (1995), Avoiding Nuclear Anarchy: Containing the Threat of Loose Russian Nuclear Weapons and Fissile Material (1996), America's Achilles' Heel: Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Terrorism and Covert Attack (1998), and numerous journal articles and chapters of edited volumes. Dr. Falkenrath has been a visiting research fellow at the German Society of Foreign Affairs (DGAP) in Bonn. He is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Council on Germany, and the American Economic Association. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of War Studies, King''s College, London, where he was a British Marshall Scholar, and is a summa cum laude graduate of Occidental College, Los Angeles, with degrees in economics and international relations.
