Experience

Mike Murphy is one of the Republican Party’s most successful political media consultants, having handled strategy and advertising for more than 26 successful gubernatorial and Senatorial campaigns. Murphy has been called a “media master” by Fortune magazine, the GOP’s “hottest media consultant” by Newsweek, and the leader of a “new breed” of campaign consultants by Congressional Quarterly.

Murphy served as senior strategist for both John McCain’s first campaign for President in 2000 and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s historic election as Governor of California. Murphy has directed successful campaigns for GOP Governors and Senators including Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Terry Branstad, Lamar Alexander, Jeff Sessions, Slade Gorton, Dirk Kempthorne, Tommy Thompson and John Engler. He has also advised political leaders in several foreign countries.

A partner in the Washington DC based Revolution Agency, Murphy also advises several Fortune 500 corporations and several of America’s largest trade associations, working with industries including insurance, energy, financial services and commercial real estate.

Murphy is a columnist for TIME Magazine as well as a regular on the Meet the Press roundtable. Murphy was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. In 2001 he was an Institute of Politics Fellow at Harvard's JFK School of Government. Murphy, 49, also works as a writer/producer in the entertainment industry. He lives with his wife Tiffany in Los Angeles, California.

It has long been accepted wisdom that Americans “don’t know much about history, don’t know much geography”— to recall the words of a golden oldie. So most folks managing, covering, or watching current campaigns will be surprised to learn that the majority of likely voters in the critical swing states of Florida and Ohio not only know more about the world outside, but care more, and want to know more than most candidates imagine.
