Experience
Francis Finlay is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Clay Finlay Inc., a New York based investment management firm with offices in London and Tokyo. Clay Finlay manages a full range of global equity mandates for a blue-chip, worldwide institutional client base. Prior to co-founding Clay Finlay in 1982, Mr. Finlay was with Morgan Guaranty as Head of the International Investment Department in New York and was a member of the Investment Policy Committee. Previously he spent 10 years with Lazard Frères, first in Paris and then in New York where he was also a member of the Investment Policy Committee. Earlier in his career he worked with Eurofinance in Paris as a senior financial analyst specializing in European chemical, pharmaceutical and synthetic fiber companies after two years with Phillips & Drew in London covering the same sectors in the U.K.. Educated at Oxford University, where he is an Honorary Fellow of Merton College and a member of the Chancellor’s Court of Benefactors, he is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (USA). Directorships include: Scottish Investment Trust, SVG Capital, East Europe Development Fund, EastWest Institute, Blakeney Investors, Boyer Allan Funds and Old Mutual (US) Holdings. Other associated activities include: Adjunct Professor, Columbia University Graduate School of Business (1981-1986): Director, United Asset Management (1998-2000); Member, Davos Global Issues Group, World Economic Forum (2000-2002); Governor, London Business School; Trustee, the British Museum; Governor, Ditchley Foundation; Member, International Advisory Boards of Euronext, the Dubai International Financial Centre and Oxford Analytica.
