Experience
Tobby Simon is the Founder, President and CEO of Synergia, a life sciences and technology company, based in Bangalore, India. Synergia Bio Sciences is a vertically integrated pharmaceutical company with an internationally validated manufacturing facility.
Synergia Technologies is an ICT company with domain expertise in banking, telecommunications and health care.
Prior to founding Synergia, Tobby was the President – Indian Operations of a European Pharmaceutical company (Centre Specialites Pharmaceutiques). He started his career with Hoechst Rousell Marion (HMR) in India and at a very early age of 31, became the Vice President of one of the largest Indian pharmaceutical conglomerates. He has received national and international awards from both the Government of India and other global organizations. He was instrumental in helping Indian pharmaceutical companies make first foray into the regulated markets of Europe. Tobby has partnered global technology forums such as the WCIT (The World Congress on Information and Communication Technology), ASOCIO (The Asia Pacific Congress on Information Technology) and IBEX (The European Union). He is a member of WITSA (The World Information Technology Services Alliance).
Since 1997, Tobby has worked closely with Nobel Prize Winner, Medicines Sans Frontières, to validate manufacturing facilities and procure less expensive anti-retroviral drugs from India. This project is helping millions of afflicted people in Asia, Africa and South America. In 2001, he worked with MSF, AEDES and The World Health Organization in Geneva to coordinate relief work in Gujarat – India, when it was devastated by an earth quake. In 2004, working closely with World Vision and local governments, he was able to jump start infrastructure activities and help those affected by Tsunami in India and Sri Lanka.
Tobby holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and is a graduate alumnus of the Harvard Business School, MA. He is an International Council Member of the Belfer Centre of Science and International Affairs at The John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, a research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a Deans International Council Member of the Harris School of Public Policy, University of Chicago and an invitee to the Trilateral Commission.
Tobby is currently the regional director of the Harvard Business Schools Life Sciences Industry Alumni initiative in India.
