Experience

Marcial Alecio Garcia Suarez was born in 1976 in Santa Catarina, Brazil. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree (2002) and a Master's degree in Political Sociology (2004). Presently, he is a Ph.D. student in the Political Science Course at the University Institute of Research of Rio de Janeiro (IUPERJ). He is researching terrorism and terrorist groups, and his research aims to analyze terrorist strategies and terrorist group profiles. The research reaches a critical point in which International Relations theory becomes an important theoretical tool; however, it also shows some weaknesses, e.g. difficulty in defining terrorism. Following this path, his research focuses on the conceptualization of terrorism through the analysis of United Nations Conventions and Resolutions.
