Experience
Rasmus Bertelsen studies the politics and soft power of American, British, and French Universities in the Middle East, funded by the Danish Social Science Research Council and the Kuwait Program at Harvard University. Rasmus received his Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Cambridge; his doctoral studies were supported by the Carlsberg Foundation (Copenhagen). His doctoral research studied the development of Aristide Briand, Austen Chamberlain, Winston Churchill, and Raymond Poincaré’s international beliefs, showing the effects of formative and later experiences. Part of this research was at the Institut d’études politiques de Paris and as resident in the Fondation danoise, Cité internationale universitaire de Paris. Rasmus was Editor-in-Chief of the Cambridge Review of International Affairs, member of the British International Studies Association Executive Committee and of the Churchill Archives Centre Committee, as well as rowed in Churchill College’s second and third men’s boats. Rasmus is Cand.scient.pol. (B.A. and M.A., political science) from the University of Copenhagen, for which he was also a Nordplus student at the University of Iceland, and holds a Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies en Science Politique (M.A.) from the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne. He was a Huygens research stipendiary at the University of Amsterdam. During his studies, Rasmus has worked in the Danish Ministry of Health and the Icelandic Ministry of Finance.
