Experience

Laurence D. Belfer is Chief Executive Officer of Belfer Management LLC, a private family investment firm that emphasized the energy, real estate, and financial services industries. Previously, Mr. Belfer served as Vice Chairman, President and COO of Belco Oil and Gas Corp. ("Belco"), a leading independent exploration and production company listed in the New York Stock Exchange. Following Belco's merger with Westport Resources ("Westport") in 2001, Mr. Belfer served as a Director and Member of the Nominating and Governance Committee of Westport until it was aquired by Kerr-McGee in a $3.5 billion stock transaction in 2004. Mr. Belfer is also a co-founder and Managing Member of Harvest Management, a hedge fund that specializes in merger arbitrage and event situations.

Mr. Belfer is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) and is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute. His community activities have included service on the Board of the Belfer Foundation, the UJA Federation of New York, the 92nd St. Y, and Facing History and Ourselves (NY Advisory Board).

Mr. Belfer is an honors graduate of Harvard College (1988), with his concentration in Government, and holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School.

Mr. Belfer is married with three children.
