Brendan Rittenhouse Green
Research Fellow, International Security Program
Brendan Green hails from Akron, Ohio, and holds an A.B. in political science from the University of Chicago. He is currently a doctoral candidate in political science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His dissertation, "Two Concepts of Liberty: American Grand Strategy and the Liberal Tradition", is chaired by Barry Posen.
Kelly M. Greenhill
Research Fellow, Program on Intrastate Conflict/International Security Program
Kelly M. Greenhill is an Assistant Professor at Tufts University. Much of her research focuses on the use of military force and what are frequently called "new security challenges," including civil wars and humanitarian disasters, (counter-)insurgencies, and transnational criminal activities.
Vaidyanatha Gundlupet
Research Fellow, Project on Managing the Atom/International Security Program
Vaidya Gundlupet's primary areas of research are international relations theory, international security, and international institutions. During 2009–2010, he will be working on the impact of nuclear weapons on South Asian security. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in August 2008.
Melissa Hathaway
Senior Advisor, Project Minerva
Melissa Hathaway, former acting senior director for cyberspace at the National Security Council, has joined the Belfer Center as a senior advisor to its cyber security initiative, Project Minerva, a joint effort between the Department of Defense, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard University.
Jacqueline L. Hazelton
Research Fellow, International Security Program
Jacqueline L. Hazelton is a doctoral candidate in the Politics Department at Brandeis University. Her dissertation analyzes success and failure in counterinsurgency. Hazelton was previously an international journalist with The Associated Press.
Thomas Hegghammer
Associate, Initiative on Religion in International Affairs/International Security Program
Thomas Hegghammer is an Oxford and Paris–educated Middle East specialist who has published, consulted, and commented widely on jihadism and al-Qaida. He is preparing a book about the jihadi ideologue Abdallah Azzam and the first Arab Afghans.
