TECHNOLOGY PIONEERS
The Science, Technology, and Globalization Project is partnering with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to solicit candidates from developing countries and emerging markets for consideration as Technology Pioneers.
The Technology Pioneers program is WEF's way of identifying and recognizing involved in the design and development of new technologies around the world. The focus is on companies in their start-up phase or their first round of financing. The innovations of these companies reflect society's attempts to harness, adapt, and use technology to change and improve the way business and society operate.
Each year, hundreds of innovative companies from around the world are nominated, and approximately thirty are recognized as Technology Pioneers in three categories: (1) biotechnology and health; (2) energy and environmental technologies; and (3) information technologies and new media. The focus of this partnership is to increase participation in the program by companies from developing countries and emerging markets.
