Joseph S. Nye, Jr. is former dean of the Kennedy School and Sultan of Oman Professor of International Relations. He has served as chairman of the National Intelligence Council, which coordinates intelligence estimates for the President, and as assistant secretary of defense.

Dr. Hassan Abbas' research interests are nuclear proliferation, religious extremism in South and Central Asia, and relations between Muslims and the West. In association with the Belfer Center, he is currently working on a project focusing on police reforms and counterinsurgency in Pakistan.
