Zalmay Khalilzad is an American diplomat who has served in a number of key positions since 2000. From 2007 to 2009, Ambassador Khalilzad served as U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Prior to that, he served as U.S. Ambassador to Iraq (2005-2007) and U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan (2003-2005). He also served as U.S. Special Presidential Envoy to Afghanistan (2001-2003). His address will focus on the road ahead for Afghanistan, both before and after the withdraw of ISAF troops.

Shyam Saran, a Fisher Family Fellow with the Future of Diplomacy Project, is the former Indian Foreign Secretary. During his tenure, Saran helped to pilot the negotiations leading to the US-India Civil Nuclear Agreement. In his address, Saran will address the role of India as an emerging democratic power on the world stage.
