On April 23, 2012, Harvard Kennedy School professor William Clark, a leading scholar on sustainable development, spoke to HKS faculty and staff about “Living Sustainable Development:  Opportunities for Planets, Places and People.” Clark’s presentation not only conveys the big picture of sustainable development challenges and policy choices that affect the whole planet -- it also brings the issues down to the level of personal decisions that can make a difference.

Clark, the Harvey Brooks professor of International Science, Public Policy and Human Development, is an ecologist who co-directs the Sustainability Science Program in the School’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, serves as area chair for the HKS International and Global Affairs (IGA) concentration, and is faculty chair of the Belfer Center’s Environment and Natural Resources Program.  In 2011 Harvard recognized Clark with the Green Carpet Spengler-Vautin Special Achievement Award, awarded annually to those members of the Harvard community propelling the University towards meeting its sustainability goals.
