Belfer Center’s Arnold Bogis Helps Develop Educational Video Game to Train First Responders

Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center Fellow Arnold Bogis provided policy analysis during the development of "Zero Hour: America’s Medic," a video game-based learning tool recently released by George Washington University’s National Emergency Medical Services Preparedness Initiative (NEMSPI). “Zero Hour” is designed to train and exercise Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and other first responder communities through a series of virtual simulations based on planning scenarios developed by the Department of Homeland Security.

President Barack Obama has nominated PDP Co-Director Ashton B. Carter to serve as Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (AT&L). On March 26, Dr. Carter testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee.

William H. Tobey, deputy administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation at the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) from 2006 to 2009 and a Harvard Kennedy School graduate (MPP ‘84), will start February 2nd as a senior fellow at the Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, where he will work with the Center’s nuclear team.

Dr. Ashton Carter, PDP Co-Director, Invited to Join American Academy of Diplomacy
Dr. Ashton B. Carter, Co-Director of the Preventive Defense Project, was recently invited to become a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy (AAD). Carter was invited to join AAD based on his continued contributions to American diplomacy, particularly his work on denuclearization of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Belarus; his negotiations with the North Koreans, and his chairmanship of the NATO High Level Group.
