Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center Announces 2010–2011 Nuclear Security Fellows
The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School has announced the 2010–2011 Nuclear Security Fellows. Karthika Sasikumar, Yun Zhou, and Mahsa Rouhi have been selected to spend a year in residence at the Belfer Center where they will conduct research under the auspices of the Center's International Security Program and Project on Managing the Atom. Supported by a generous gift from the Stanton Foundation, the fellowships begin in September 2010.

Reducing Cars' and Trucks' Carbon Emissions Difficult but Feasible, New Study Finds

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — A new study from current and former researchers at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs finds that reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation will be a much bigger challenge than conventional wisdom assumes — requiring substantially higher fuel prices combined with more stringent regulation.

Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center Announces New Nuclear Security Fellows Program Funded by Stanton Foundation
Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs will participate in a new nuclear security fellowship program funded by the Stanton Foundation. The purpose of the fellowships is to stimulate the development of the next generation of leaders in nuclear security by supporting research that will advance policy-relevant understanding of the issues. Fellows will produce a written product at the end of the fellowship on topics including: nuclear terrorism, nuclear proliferation, nuclear weapons, nuclear force posture, and nuclear energy as it relates to nuclear security.

Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center Announces 2009 Roy Family Award for Environmental Partnership
The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University announced today that the 2009 Roy Family Award for Environmental Partnership will be given to the Mexico City Metrobus, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that reduces air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, while improving the quality of life and transportation options in one of the largest cities in the world.

A former top Bush Administration official is joining the faculty at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Meghan O'Sullivan, who served as special assistant to the president and deputy national security advisor for Iraq and Afghanistan from 2004-07, has been named the Jeane Kirkpatrick Professor of the Practice of International Affairs, as announced by Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) Dean David T. Ellwood. O'Sullivan is affiliated with Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.

Harvard Project on International Climate Agreements Receives Additional Funding from Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to Expand Research in Key Areas

As global negotiators prepare to discuss the next international climate agreement in Copenhagen and beyond, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation's Climate Change Initiative has awarded the Harvard Project on International Climate Agreements $600,000 over one year to significantly expand its research and policy outreach.
